Why Answerworthy exists
Search stopped being a list of links, and most of the industry responded by renaming its old habits. Keyword trackers became “prompt trackers.” Rank reports became “visibility scores.” Screenshots became evidence. The vocabulary updated; the epistemology did not.
We started from the other end: from how AI search actually works.
The premise
AI engines do not rank pages, they compose answers, and they compose them probabilistically. That single mechanical fact has consequences most tooling in this category has not absorbed:
- A metric built on one sample of a probabilistic system is not a measurement.
- “Visibility” is not one number; it is a chain. What your site exposes determines what crawlers read, what crawlers read shapes what engines cite, what engines cite becomes what buyers hear, and what buyers hear eventually surfaces in traffic. Measuring one link of the chain and inferring the rest is guessing.
- A finding you cannot trace to its evidence is an opinion with a chart.
Answerworthy is those three convictions turned into software: statistical, evidence-backed measurement of what AI says, verified log-based measurement of what AI bots do, a methodology-grounded audit of what is broken, a connection to real search and traffic data, and a fix loop where “done” means re-measured, not self-reported.
Where it came from
The platform grew out of practitioner work, not a pitch deck: years of running AI-visibility engagements for real brands, in regulated industries where a wrong AI-stated fact is a genuine liability and where “trust me” does not survive a compliance review. The methodology came first, as a documented operating discipline built and tested on client work. The product is that discipline, systematized, because running it by hand every week across multiple brands is exactly the kind of work software should do.
That origin explains the product’s personality. It is multi-client because the work was multi-client. It separates OBSERVED from INFERRED because clients’ executives asked which claims could be proven. It checks AI answers against an approved fact sheet because engines kept confidently misstating facts that mattered. Nothing in the platform exists because a competitor had it; everything exists because the work required it.
What we believe
Rigor is a feature, not a tax. The category’s dirty secret is that most numbers in most dashboards would not survive a statistician’s first question. We think the market is about to start asking that question, and we would rather be early than loud.
Honesty compounds. Every engine surface in the product carries a note about what exactly was measured. Attribution undercounts are stated, not hidden. Metrics that cannot be computed honestly say so on the dashboard. Short-term, this makes our numbers look more modest than some competitors’. Long-term, it is the only position that survives contact with a skeptical client.
Tools should teach. Every metric, threshold, and label in Answerworthy carries an explanation of the principle behind it. Users should get better at this discipline by using the product, not just more dependent on it.
Where we are
Early, and saying so plainly. We are newly launched and self-serve, with no customer wall to show you and no interest in inventing one. What we have is a working platform, a public methodology we invite you to hold us to, and a free scan that will tell you something true about your site in minutes. That is the honest state of things, and it is enough to evaluate us on.
